This is another great helm I got from a friend a while ago. I painted it and instead of painting the weathering, I weathered it by beating the abaokute shit out of it. Due to the cheap nature of this helm, it had the wrong shape to it. Instead of tapering, it was completely flat on the bottom making it sit almost down to the shoulders if you lined the occularium up with your eyes.

Also, the way it was shaped, the opening tapered narrower than it should be, and putting it on with an arming cap and maille coif was nearly impossible and had to be forced on.

So I had to cut a portion of the bottom off at a taper, and now it fits great with the padded and maille coif.

I know of them, but I don’t have the money or time to get inolved unfortunately. My medieval armor I have is purely costuming and for personal fun.

Here’s my full crusader armor along with a wenzel styled bascinet I am currently working to make wearable.

Nice! Your garb game is strong.

Cost and time are what ended my involvement with the SCA, but I had lots of good times when I was playing. Was a fun crowd, and a hobby with endless sub-hobbies.

Well, good on ye! Nice pics!

Thank you! I just got into costuming and I’m learning a lot. I made my chainmail coif with hand coiled and cut rings. Loving all the stuff I’m doing now I’m working on a halloween costume as well. I’m working on adding fur to the robe so I can give it more of an “undead king” vibe.
