Notice they said “I back the blue” rather than “I backed the blue.” Not only did the leopard eat their face, they left a 5 star review.

Thats how people who tell their offspring to “submit” to someone think. Being an obedient little slave is their thing.

We are raised in families where we are ordered around. We are sent to schools where we are trained to be obedient. We go to work in authoritarian organizations. We don’t understand democracy or cooperative organization. Nobody knows why.

Because life is even worse (and often shorter, at least in the US, since you don’t get health and dental care until it’s too late) if you’re poor.

But seriously my dad taught us never to say anything unnecessary to police and to ask for a lawyer first if ever questioned. This was in the 80s too, way before the internet memo lawyers made catchy videos about not talking.

Your dad was amazing for doing that. Sadly that advice was far from the norm back then. Especially in non minority families.

He’d been tear gassed while protesting the Vietnam War, and when I was deciding what to do for college, he let me know that the main reason he went was to reduce his draft odds.

I think that’s what made him distrust the police. He wasn’t antigovernment or anything though, and even ran for state senate later in life, after being in local politics. No Democrat had ever won in his district though so he never had a chance.

When they win this case helping people who suck, it will help them in the next case where they are trying to help people who don’t.

He and his family said they couldn’t believe how they were treated.

Well, not better than any other US police victims it seems.

Sometimes the story structure is the message, and this feels a lot like outrage bait.

Just change the actors with a black family and BLM protesters, and watch the right go nuts.

I think you missed the point. As for the ad hominem well, it says more about you.

The point is not in the story itself, but in the way the article was written:

Person suffers at hands of people they support - queue schadenfreude mirth from opponents. Laugh at their pain, for it is funny.

You wanted an example of the opposite you said?

Here you go: “A protester shot my sister! A protester!” she said. “You are so mad at the police that you are hurting everyone else.”, Associated Press link

Do you not think this was presented the exact same way in right wing forums as the original story was presented in boingboing?

Would it change your mind? Would you reconsider?

Would society come closer to healing if the media were overrun with these outrage click-bait stories?

Society has fallen for Russian active measures, tearing itself apart.

We need a healing strategy and this is not it.

You’re critiquing the journalism? Both BoingBoing and this page are advocacy sites. We’re not mainstream journalism with pretenses or attempts at impartiality, eager to avoid offending advertisers and subscribers. That’s oranges. We’re apples.

I also don’t see your point in linking to the article about a protester’s murder.

Society has fallen for Russian active measures, tearing itself apart. We need a healing strategy and this is not it.

Might I ask cordially WTF you’re on about? A “healing strategy” is not what’s needed, and it seems unlikely that Russians were involved in the death of the Albrechts’ family dog.

Please hurry up and make a point pertinent to this page.
