It’s totally normal for police to pay victims, uh, roughly $38 million dollars a year in legal settlements for bad policing, right guys?

I mean, what single city doesn’t pay the families of the victims of police brutality $38 million dollars a year and let the taxpayers pick up the tab, right?

I mean, the Chicago police department has about 14,000 employees, so it’s totally reasonable to spend an extra $2,714 per employee each year settling cases where the cops treated the people they’re supposed to protect and serve so horribly that our own courts of law have awarded them or their families hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars of damages. That’s just par for the course of course.

I mean, when you account for overtime that’s just one extra dollar per hour for every hour the 14,000 employees of the Chicago police department work of taxpayer dollars spent reimbursing their families and neighbors for the unmitigated bloodshed and terror those employees are inflicting on the city.

It would be really bad if it were 1 person doing it, sure, but you spread it out over 14,000 people working 2080 hours a year or more while earning above median salaries while they brutalize the entire city relentlessly it’s not that bad.
