never had a gym teacher that wasn’t perfectly fit - ig germany is different in that regard?
On of my old teachers was a former olympia participant for the GDR. She was almost a retirement age when we got her, but she was still doing everything she told us to do and probably better than most of us.
Getting outsported by someone that could be your grandma hits really differently.
I had one who was “fat”. In gymnastics he got challenged by one of the sporty guys he always had do the exercise in front of the class so we would know how to do it. The sporty guy basically told him he wouldn’t do it and since no one else was around to show, we could play a game or something like that (it’s been a while). We regretted that. Our ~140kg gym teacher started another routine a lot more advanced and executed it brilliantly. We spend the next few lessons training that shit. He also wasn’t challenged anymore……
One of the gym teachers I had in highschool was fit , especially for his age (I think he was close to our past retirement age when I had him as a teacher) and he died of heart failure during one of his class a decade later. Student just started wondering why he was sitting on a bench with his eyes closed and not saying anything…
Lol same. Had some absolute tanks as well. Bro could do handstand pushups and crazy shit like that.
Germany is different in many regards, most make us jealous.
My gym teachers were mostly grumpy fat old men or annoying happy go lucky fit old men. Nothing in between.
I’ve lived in several states across the country and not a single gym teacher I had was remotely overweight. Old? Yes. Tired? Oh yea. Working multiple jobs? Sure. But never overweight
I’ve never been so thoroughly smoked in physical exertion and physics-defying fakeouts than a morning playing racquetball with a very experienced, exceptionally acerbic fat man who had spent years on the court. He suckered me into playing for lunch!
One of my two gym teachers in HS actually ran with us and got a lot more respect for it than the other dude.
