In Baltimore, a federal judge has blocked lawsuits against Catholic schools, charities and parishes that are part of insurance plans with the Archdiocese of Baltimore. This comes days after the Catholic Church in Baltimore filed for bankruptcy Friday, ahead of Maryland’s new Child Victims Act, which went into effect Sunday and removes the statute of limitations for child sex abuse lawsuits. A flood of lawsuits is expected against the Archdiocese. A report last year found at least 600 children suffered sexual abuse and physical torture by over 150 Baltimore clergy members over decades. Dozens of survivors also filed a suit Sunday against the state of Maryland and its agencies for sexual abuse suffered in its juvenile prisons.

Just seize all of the Baltimore Archdiocese real-estate assets.

Also, throw all of their clergy in jail for facilitating systemic child abuse.

We will never see anything resembling accountability on this topic coming from the church. I like the sentiment of tossing them all in jail, but I get pangs of due process.

I’d settle for seizing their workplace and their homes, if the church owns them.

The Catholic Church should never be allowed to file for bankruptcy, they have more money than anyone

I was about to say that the Mormons might have more, but then I remembered that the Catholics basically own a country.

If you’re wondering why Christianity is the least popular it’s ever been, consider that the backlog of child rape lawsuits is so vast that they preemptively declare bankruptcy unless they’re legally declared not responsible for the children they rape.

Plans for this have been in the works for decades. The Catholic Church (if you can actually call them a church), have been divided their assets up for many, many years. That way, when one part gets caught doing something wrong; they just say “Oh, they only owe this small part of the property/money. The rest is owned by this other legal entity.”

I don’t remember Jesus teaching anything about “Hide and Divide your assets!”
