nothing says "pc gamer" like rainbow plastic mods right? I got these knock-off joycons (OUBANG if you're curious) and confirmed that 1) they're compatible with PC joycon drivers, and 2) they're compatible with eXtremeRate replacement plastic shells.
the OUBANGs have no nfc chip and no infrared camera, which apparently makes them $30 cheaper??? look how little there is inside the right joycon; this was a breeze.
I was hoping that the simplified internals would also result in better wireless signal; my main frustration when using Nintendo's joycons with a PC. The OUBANGs aren't much better from what I can tell, but they're certainly not worse!
I love the joycon concept, its so comfy to play with my arms sprawled out. This is the best adhd controller. If you have a PC gaming setup on your TV and you also have a pair of joycons lying around, I highly recommend it!
a neat trick is to use Steam Input to remap one of the joycons like a wiimote. Currently Steam only supports using the right gyro, not the left one, but I think SCController might not have that limitation?
I have it set to output a mouse cursor when holding R5 (the right joycon's "SL" bumper), so I can point and click with one hand, just like a mouse. It's fun!
