Yup, case, backlit buttons and new screen. Feels all new!

They couldn’t do that without going full Sega Game Gear and requiring 8 AA batteries for about an hour of playtime - though their graphics were running a lot better too so maybe a backlit GBC wouldn’t need as much power. I used to use the ancillary tool that had it’s own batteries though, that magnified the screen as well as lit it up. The one for the Game Boy Color was a clear purple, so futuristic!

Well back then they barely had the tech to do it haha. If they did this thing would’ve cost like $300 or more

I feel like all it’s lacking is a 12 inch subwoofer in the trunk and some hydraulics.

    I like it.

Ya it’s pimped out for sure. I’m sure I could get some electric avenue playing on it

Pretty cool! Can you turn the button lights on and off independent?

Yup! I usually play with them off but sometimes just like the extra prettiness

Ah, cool! Agreed, I think I’d want to play with them off most of the time but it’s a cool feature to have!

It’s totally a cool factor and post pictures online factor about it. No practical reason honestly but I still love it.

I’ve been thinking about getting an Abernic emulator clone but seeing stuff like this makes me want to mod the real deal. Maybe I’ll settle for a DS to macro gba mod instead.

Both are really fun. Modding is a little more effort but a satisfying result, pre built handhelds do the job just fine and are usually cheaper and easier

There’s just something special about having the original hardware. Even though it’s modded, it still feels special

It looks so tiny! I remember it being so much bigger than that.

Agreed. Seemed perfect when I was a kid but now my hands are all cramped. Still worth it though

Is that a standard size GBC? Do I remember them to be way bigger because I myself was smaller?

Yes it is! Just updated but same size shell.

Shit I need to hold a GBC now. I’m with you, my brain remembers it being significantly bigger.
