I’ve tried x-posting the linked URL to the lemm.ee saxophone community via both Jerboa app on Android and via the web. But, both methods fail and I’m wondering why. I read through some of the posts here and the original FAQ post, so I’m wondering am I unable to x-post because accounts aren’t migrated between the two instances? And, would that mean I’d need to create a lemm.ee account? Is there another way than that?

Thanks, all.

Accounts aren’t migrated, but you don’t need an account on lemm.ee to post there. That’s the point of federation (note I’m not on Lemmy.world)

What happens when you try? Are you subscribed the lemm.ee sax community? If no one from lemmy.world has subscribed there yet then it may not be discoverable. Federation starts once a user subscribes. I just tried to crosspost it as a test but the lemm.ee community didn’t appear. Probably because no one from my instance subscribed there yet.

Edit: just subscribed to [email protected] and sure enough I was the first from sh.itjust.works. Now that’s its been discovered by my instance I was able to crosspost your post.

Actually, spoke too soon. The post still hangs on submission. Maybe the federation process needs a min first? Odd.

I actually can’t post there at all? Curious.

    I’m at a loss, sorry

Bummer, you’re getting the same as I am.

      Thanks for checking!

I don’t suppose you know how to contact other users? Like, to reach out to the mod.

      Thank again!

You can check the moderators on the sidebar. It appears @[email protected] is the sole moderator. You could dm them. Looking more closely I see they’re the only one who’s posted to that community. It’s possible they have it set that only moderators can post there. Potentially by accident.

Edit: sent them a message asking.

Oh, that’s great! I didn’t see an option to message them directly, but I only checked in my mobile app.

Which app are you using? I’m surprised any don’t support DMs (note I’m not saying private messages as admins can read them)

They haven’t replied yet. I’ll let you know if they do.

I was just about to get you the Jerboa version number when I discovered there was a 9-day-old update. So, I updated to v0.0.39 and I can now post to that community!

So, IDK if it was the update or you reaching out to the mod, but thank you for your help! I appreciate ya.

It was the mod. They changed the community rules. Check your DMs.

And you’re welcome! I know lemmy can be confusing at times and I want it to be a welcoming place.
