They just get respiratory infections so easily, but they solved the problem evolutionarily by blasting out babies by the dozens.
They also should be kept with at least one other rat.
Usually two or three, and taking care of one is pretty much the same as taking care of multiple.
They are very social creatures and need buddies or they’ll get incredibly depressed and usually self harm.
Of course, you need a larger enclosure for multiple rats. People don’t give them enough space as it is.
