I wonder if someone can actually unseat the Chavez / Maduro USP. They wasted no time to resort to the old misinformation and demagoguery playbook that they’ve been using for 20 years.
It really doesn’t matter what they say if they control all forms of government in an illegitimate way. Chavez was popular (to my disliking), and he won every election fair and square. Maduro, though? All rigged (I hate this word when Trump uses it, but in this case, it’s being used accurately.)
So who’s to say that these will be fair elections?
I’ve always thought Venezuela very much reminded me of the Trump / MAGA playbook. It’s coming from the other end of the political spectrum, but the misinformation tactics, authoritarianism, demagoguery, victimization bullshit is all the same.
You got it wrong. Trump reminds us of Venezuela/Cuba/Russia’s playbook, not the way around.
