Yea … sometimes all it takes is the naivety of the young to call out something for what it is.

Quoting the Gen Z video … “How do you have friends” “No time to work out” … fundamental questions! Like, what is this all for!

Key point also is that a big part of her problem is the commute from out of the city to in-person work in the city. To beat a dead horse in this age of WFH (for some!!), that “9-5 with a 1-2hr commute” life style is fucking deathly!

I have a 2h commute, 2.5h back. All in all, I leave the house at 7:15 and return at 21:30. Seriously, things suck, but maybe AI will be able to disrupt the current system.

While I definitely agree that this is shit, I can also imagine people not having too much empathy, seeing how everyone has to live this way.

She’s not complaining about work though? She only has issues with the commute. You can work 6 hours a day, but if everything were zoned as single family detached housing you’d still hate it. Because bad city design is the thing that makes it bad.

Ahem, regardless of the lady in that video’s take on it, perhaps you should acquaint yourself with some of the lyrics Dolly Parton wrote in that song, such as:

"They let you dream just to watch them shatter,

You’re just a step on the boss-man’s ladder"

It’s pretty much a union call to arms - It mentions, “getting together with a lot of your friends, waiting for the day your ship’ll come on, and the tide’s gonna turn and it’s all gonna rollllll your way”.

Ok? Still off topic to the video though. Unless there are unions that lobby for modern zoning laws?

It’s ok to criticize a 9-5 job, but that’s not what the lady complained about. So I was simply confused by the reply in the tweet.

Construction is even worse. You are expected to work at LEAST 10 hours a day. And you will be asked to stay later than that with no notice. And you’re CONSTANTLY fighting to not get screwed over with things like overtime and travel pay. If you complain about work life balance they’ll just let you go.

Oh, I’m sorry, you don’t want to destroy your body like a manly man man that works construction?

God I can’t wait for boomers to leave the workforce. I hope they take their mindset with them, too.

I work 12-3 most days and I still don’t have time for the shit I want to do

Need a 2 day work week. I know people say 4 but given how much labor value is being stolen from us, it should be 2 days

GDP per person in the workforce is over $130k a year. One third the median wage.
