At this fucking point in history it’s damn obvious that any religion is a ticking bomb of cult nonsense that doesn’t belong in this reality.
The extremism is going to continue as the cults get more desperate to maintain control and power over people.
I mean, that’s not a fair take. People forget quickly, but some of the leaders of the LGBTQ rights movement were churches, and that homophobia is a traditional issue coincidentally spread through religion, not a religious issue. The Unitarian Universalists have never been anything but a force for good.
There are religions that have never approached being “cult nonsense”.
There are religions that have never had a systemic problem with extremism.
There’s plenty of secular cult nonsense.
There’s plenty of secular group extremism.
Why don’t we just “hate what’s bad” and “embrace what’s good”? There’s no paradox of tolerance when the target is being tolerant. There’s only being a jerk.
No, no… don’t interrupt leftists if they are so desperate to shoot leftism in the foot yet again with their garbage and irrelevant edgelord atheism - after all, we really don’t want radical politics being preached in churches, mosques and temples… you know, the only way radical politics has of ever coming to the forefront again.
