A Methuen police officer accused of possessing explicit images of children has been suspended by Massachusetts police oversight officials while his criminal case proceeds.

Matthew Bistany was already on administrative leave from the Methuen Police Department following his arrest in August. But his policing certification is now also suspended by the Peace Officer Standards and Training, or POST, Commission, the state’s police watchdog agency.
