Delpi holo decals with Mark setter and softer, Gundam markers for panel lines, matte topcoat to hide the scratches from 1000 grit sandpaper on the dark blue wings.
Amazing job with the panel lining and I see the cat has already claimed the box. Are holo decals kind of shiny? How did the matte coat affect it?
Yes, the decals are shiny. Unfortunately I did not realize that matte is there best for hiding sanding marks and gloss highlights imperfections, so I opted for light matte coats to dull the holo decals. I’m really happy with the result as the sanding marks are gone and there’s still some holo. But the matte shows all the nubs I missed haha
That’s great work, especially with the waterslides on a first build! Definitely one to be more proud of than my first build. Out of curiosity, what did you use for your topcoat? It looks more satin than matte to me and doesn’t seem to have full coverage. In images where a dark part catches the light it looks splotchy.
Hmm, it might just be the light as I inspected each piece outside in the sun to ensure it was even. I used Mr clear matte, which can cause gundam markers to bleed so I layered 2 light coats.
The setter softer combo really makes a difference for hiding the edges of the decals
