Today, we have seen the conclusion of two criminal proceedings relating to the misconduct in public office of one former, and one current, Derbyshire Constabulary police officer.

The investigation, carried out by Derbyshire Constabulary, under the direction of the Independent Office for Police Conduct, laid charges of misconduct in public office against former PC Daniel Nash, and serving PC Matthew Longmate.

Earlier this year, Nash pleaded guilty to 14 counts of misconduct in public office. He was sentenced in August, however, due to ill health he was handed a two-year suspended sentence and died the following month.
