The U.S. military on Wednesday said American warplanes struck a weapons storage facility in eastern Syria that officials said was being used by Iran-backed militants responsible for dozens of drone and rocket attacks against American troops in the region over the last three weeks.
It was the second such counterstrike in the past two weeks.
“Today, at President Biden’s direction, U.S. military forces conducted a self-defense strike on a facility in eastern Syria used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement.
Two F-15 fighters launched precision munitions at a weapons-storage warehouse in Deir el-Zour province, according to U.S. officials.
I didn’t hear no bell!
While I dislike the Syrian dictatorship as much as everyone else, remind me again what right does the US have to conduct operations in Syria? Is the US at war with Syria?
It’s called the right to defend yourself. They have been attacked at least 41 times since they arrived to the region and are giving what they consider a proportional response to stop further attacks
This is clearly explained in the summary… but I guess that it’s difficult to understand for tankies.
Where have they arrived in the region? In which country?
RTFA
This precision self-defense strike is a response to a series of attacks against U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria by IRGC-Quds Force affiliates
Oh right. I forgot about the time when Syria invited US troops over into their country. That’s fair
You really are putting a lot of effort into your mental gymnastics. the troops are in international waters not in syria, or maybe you need to work on your reading comprehension skills . Similarly there were no us troops in yemen when they intercepted the misiles they launched at israel.
It literally says “US personnel in Iraq and Syria”
So how is that international waters?
