Thinking of adding tags or some other means of describing content to make posts more organized and easier to find. I’d avoid writing “Tags: ” and listing keywords because it reminds of yt videos with hundreds of tags in the end of description. It looks stupid.
I don’t know what is scheduled for next versions of lemmy, but I think that, at some point, the goal was to align with fediverse tags, by using #tag anywhere in the title or body.
As for the preferred usage, it will depend on what users decide. Some mastodon users are listing them at the bottom of their post. I tend to inline them if they’re part of the post, it makes for less artificial tagging imho.
bruh my reply from sdfeu account got lost. posting it again:
if choosing between inlining and appending tags i would prefer appending, because in mobile app and web client, that i use, tags have different color. I find it hard to read text with mixed colors. And even if tags were of the same color as text i still don’t like hashtags in my text. My favorite solution would be a separate text field for tags. But since it’s very unlikely to be implemented i will probably stick to appending
I didn’t know that some clients color tags. That’s an argument in favor of appending, indeed.
The default web client does so, too?
in mastodon web client tags are slightly darker. And in ios mobile app they are blue.
Another advantage of appended tags is that they are darker and ellipsized, so they dont draw too much attention:
