Before they died, Jennifer Kirk and Sue Sue Norton were both victims of domestic violence, but the men involved — the ex-mayor’s sons — faced few consequences despite a long history of similar allegations.

Of course they’re native women and the men were white. Once again.

If you had read the article, you could see that the men are not white.

This is a well-written investigative story about politically connected parents covering up the violent assaults committed by their three sons for over 20 years.

You don’t even need to read the article, there are pictures.

There’s a picture of the mayor being sworn in and another of one of the accused men. The article does not mention the race of the attackers nor how they self-identify.

Race has nothing to do with ending life. Shit people exist among groups then and still do now. Be better

It’s how we treat justice that speaks to the racism. Bodies happened and no questions asked - that’s the point here. You’re right that race has nothing to do with murder on a moral level but for motivation, race is a powerful factor in both why and what to do about it.

I agree. I thought I was responding to someone who mentioned the murderer was white. Stating race as the motivation for this particular murder overlooks they the privilege involved. Power corrupts weak men. Power and money is what kept both murderers not facing justice. The father got away with it since he had power. They come from the proven bias towards rich vs. poor.
