    This actually happened.

Apparently the site sucks, so I’m pasting it here:

A laughable situation caused quite the stir at Groff Elementary in Moses Lake on Tuesday.

A memo issued to parents stated that a report of a mountain lion at around 10:30 a.m. near the school prompted a lockdown. The situation initially escalated to a lockdown, but it soon transitioned to a ‘secured building’ protocol, under which classes resumed while students stayed indoors.

This revision clarifies the sequence of events and the outcome.

To their dismay, educators soon learned that the mountain lion was in fact, a “fat cat eating a rat,” according to the school memo to parents.

“While we take all reports seriously, this was the first report we’ve ever had of this nature,” the school wrote in a statement.

Despite the benign nature of it all, safety measures resumed to safeguard students and staff. Classes resumed as normal after a short period of time.

Here you go, it’s a short article. It’s a shitty local news site.

This reminds me of the lioness which supposedly was roaming through Berlin this summer. It was searched for by experts, the police and volunteers, but no find. Later it turned out to be a boar.
