    I used Atmel8051 in college. It fits nicely on a breadboard and teaches you how to use assembly and make wonders with 512 byte (yes byte) RAM if I remember the number correctly. I think half of that RAM was even reserved.

      You might enjoy the Timex Datalink watches. You can assemble programs for its 6805 CPU and upload it to the watch using flashing light!

      There’s like no identifying features on this thing how do y’all know it’s the 8051 and not some other random 40 pin IC like a HV518P or some other obscure IC?
