I’m going to make a guess that the main issue with the Houthi drone and missile attacks is that they’re doing a shoot and scoot. It’s probably a squad with a drone that launches it, then moves to prevent counter battery fire. I think the US Navy has hit a couple of warehouses but otherwise hasn’t retaliated even after shooting down multiple attacks with destroyers.
I’m wondering why they don’t use loitering drones there. Those are basically missiles that circle an area continuously until a target is designated, at which point it attacks the target.
There has to be other complicating factors, but generally the kinds of drones you use to take out a ship aren’t the little DJI ones the Ukrainians use to drop hand grenades. They’re bigger and easier to detect on launch.
