Pretty good look into who the current Grand Duke of Atur is and how the title is obtained. I like peeling back the bits of Karrnath that make more than just a nation of warlords and necromancers. I actually have a warforged Seeker that I play who used to be in one of the orders that was disbanded before the end of the Last War who is trying to show that not all Seekers are like the Emerald Claw.

I’m using these IFAQs to make me do my homework (read: game-world prep). Things like: so, where in Karrnath is Atur? Answer: east of Korth, just follow the road or take the lightning rail, it’s the next city over.

The general description of Atur has me put in mind an unusually smart and chatty skeleton running a bar that PCs might visit. Probably they’re not the owner, just the barskeleton, but it’d give the place some sense of self that wasn’t just rooted in dour and militant Karrnath.

I love the IFAQs and other articles in Keith’s blog! I love the books about Eberron, but Keith always gives a bit more inspiration in the blogs because he asks some very good follow-up questions that he gives examples of what he would do. His engagement with the community on how to tell the story at your table is one of many reasons why I love Eberron.
