NEW HAVEN — A former New Haven police officer accused of sexually assaulting a teenager he met though a police-run youth program appeared in state Superior Court Thursday.

During the appearance for Jeremie Elliott, his lawyer entered a pro forma not guilty plea, which is a step often taken in the early stages of a criminal case.
