Just like they’re saying on Hacker News, this will absolutely be used by landlords and their allies who have the capital to lobby for more restrictions for their clients. Value provided by landlords is already shoddy at best, with tenants being left to the whims of their particular landlord. A system that operates off the expected charity and generosity from the bigger party is doomed to be terrible for the other.
