Looks much cleaner, love the magnifying glass instead of the three lines.

Noticed that the “Saved” tab also says “Search” though…

    Hey!

I want to thank every contributor and developer for working on this app and to bring so many updates in such a short amount of time. :)

Got a quick question though: if I have Jerboa installed via the playstore, is it possible to update it with the apk? Or would I need to deinstall the app and install it fresh?

In case anyone reads this and asks the same question:

I just deleted the app on my phone and installed via the apk. Works fine now! I had some trouble signing back onto my account, but I guess that was because of high traffic on my instance

I can recommend the app obtainium to keep custom apk up to date via linking it with a GitHub URL!

Obtainium gave me a notification that a new release had been made on GitHub and with 1 click it updated the all on my phone to the newer version 😄

(I had Lemmy via the Playstore first, the uninstalled it and installed it via the apk obtainium)

The speed at which this app is being updated - and with quality updates - is insane. Keep up the good work everybody!

Thank you so much for your work. This app is awesome for the early stages and this update improved functionality massively. I have zero context of how to make suggestions for the app. I mean it in a constructive way. So here it goes.

    1. In your inbox have a way to see the context of that response. Currently, If you click on it, it opens the entire thread and you have to sort through it to find your comment. In large threads that’s a big issue.

    2. Not sure how possible it is to make the functionality to be able to create groups of communities. For example, if there is an [email protected] and [email protected] and [email protected] etc a user can add all them as they find them to a multicatagory they created named awww… consolidating them from a user’s standpoint but still keeping things decentralized.

    3. Make an option for a user to set a default sort/home page. Like clicking home can be set to default to “all” or “subscribed” sorted by “Hot” or “Active”.

Kbin is completely different software. You’ll have to ask its creators to make an app for it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but once kbin is federating properly shouldn’t it be possible to view and interact with the content from Kbin? Or is there a technical limitation for that on the app?

Yes you’ll be able to subscribe to their magazines which would be seen as communities on lemmy and people on mastodon.

The api which apps like jerboa etc. speak to won’t be compatible out the box however.

I wouldn’t go as far to say it’s completely different software, but the api is different to lemmy.

Can’t search comments for text (ala boost for Reddit) so:

    • Login in for the first time is confusing. Make profile take you to the login screen.
    • Make the “need to login first” Pop Up (can’t remember exacr wording" act as a link when you tap on it, so you can go to the login screen.

Absolutely. I was so confused as to how to login when I first opened the app. I literally had to do Google search to figure out how.

Are you working on a fix for community links not working?

Loooove this update. The bottom navigation bar is much improved, and the new icon is superb, now I can proudly let Jerboa live in my homescreen.

I used some images found on the web to make shortcuts, and Nova Launcher was nice enough to round the edges.

I didn’t see it mentioned in the changelog, but they also added more instance links to the Android Open Links By Default section.

Settings - Apps - Jerboa - Open by Default, click Add Link button, checkmark the new entries.

The last few days have been incredible with the amount of contributions pouring in. We had 13 first-time contributors in just 3 days, and the release before that was 14 contributors.

The bottom bar is much improved but it says search twice, the right one should be saved

This app is starting to look pretty awesome! There’s a feature I really want from Infinity for Reddit which is swiping between posts. Can that be implemented?
