I love genuine questions and people putting in the effort to love and understand each other better. If you come at me just wanting to argue I’m going to troll you back. FAFO.

  • I always go to the used book sale and get like 30 $1 paperbacks then donate them to my unit book cart (inpatient psych) when I’m done reading them (also a paperback and cup of tea pair nicely with a good night shift).

If any of you would like you do this just remember only paperbacks and while it’s not a hard no it’s best to avoid obviously hardcore / explicit violent or sexual content (nothing the other patients are going to comment on them reading in the dayroom). Also most of my coworkers who would object to adult content don’t really actually… read. At least not enough to censor content deeper than the cover.

  • You’ve got it reversed; less insecticide = more ladybugs = less aphids. Ladybugs are their natural predator and can actually be bought from breeders along with stuff like tomato worm wasps as a natural non-chemical pest control.

I was also taught as a kid to only kill the tomato worms without eggs laid on them:

You let those ones live because the eggs are gonna hatch and eat it then make more wasps that will eat more tomato worms.

  • Yeah convenience culture will have to die. To keep food not in plastic and not shipped halfway across the world you’re going to gave to give up getting your favorite flavor of dorito from the gas station at 2am. They won’t be able to package specialty flavors at a plant 600mi away then seal them in airtight nitrogen and ship them all over the country to that stores that are open 24/7 where they’ll be shelf stable for the next few months. You’ll have to order them by mail yourself or make do with local / regional variants made with different ingredients. The kids who stop eating when their dino nuggies have a different breading are just gonna starve (had an ex like that at 25y/o he was exhausting.)

Oxytocin. Skin receptors are extra sensitive all over you just notice it in the hands because of the friction but she’ll probably also be glued to the rest of your skin with the rest of her body too. It’s like the opposite of post nut clarity and it’ll literally chemically bond a woman to you if you indulge it enough times. If I had to describe the sensation it’s like being baked and staring at the hand holding a half eaten tube of raw cookie dough (in this case the dude is the cookie dough).

As a psychiatric nurse can confirm; black people are objectively cleaner. Doubly so if they’re Muslim but even Christian / nonaffiliated blacks as well. I was raised redneck in a very quietly / mildly racist environment so there was this underlying mindset that black = poor = less hygiene but when I started working healthcare my perspective really changed.

Hygiene in general is very culturally dependent and honestly once a day is fairly common among whites, maaaybe every other day without causing any problems as long as they’re cleaning their hands, butts and teeth properly (if it’s less than that they’re almost certainly struggling with some kind of psychological / psychiatric problem). Black patients on average shower 2x daily (although they wash their hair much less, like weekly or every 2 weeks). They HAVE to use lotion though for their skin to tolerate that, white people usually just leave their existing skin barrier intact. Muslim patients often need accommodations (time excused from group therapy) to accommodate their prayer and hygiene schedule.

  • registered nurse actually. but when a job offers a bonus like that it’s because the place is really sketchy but they’re banking on you not being able to pay back the taxes that were taken out of the bonus you now owe them back if you quit in the next two years. like one of those nursing homes or for my specialty usually a state psych hospital where you’ve got like 40 patients a night and two techs if it’s an acute unit and it turns out somebody hung themselves while the techs slept through the last two rounds because they’re paying them less than Walmart and they don’t GAF.
