  • (is it just me, or should the first two be swapped?)

I think the intent is that the first one is “chill” because it’s the lowest-effort approach for someone who doesn’t want a beard but can’t be arsed to keep fully clean-shaven. This guy doesn’t care that much, but probably shaves 1-2 times per week or uses an electric shaver to keep himself presentable.

The second is a more intentional style. It takes more effort to maintain stubble on your face and also clean lines than either a full beard or the “chill” guy’s style. This guy is probably doing daily maintenance on the lines as well as buzzing down the stubble regularly. So it’s less “chill” because it’s higher-effort.

  • If you go into KDE’s settings > Sound section, what devices does it show, and what type of output (like “Digital Stereo” or “Pro Audio”) are they set to?

Once in a blue moon, my audio output will get mysteriously changed to a format that does nothing, or the audio controller will go *poof* and I need to manually re-enable it. It’s rare, and I’ve never been able to pin down the exact cause, but it seems more likely after I’ve been connecting and disconnecting alternative audio devices, like my PS4 game controller (which also reads as an audio device due to its headset port), USB microphone (same deal), or USB headphone amp.

After all these years it’s still a pain point.

  • Technically, Rebirth (part 2) ends at the same place in the story as disc 1 of the original. Disc 3 of the original was mostly the same as disc 2, since you could do a lot of side content early or late. They just needed another disc to fit all the FMV scenes.

So the general flow of the remake trilogy is:

Remake: Midgar. In the original, this was the first 5-8 hours for a typical player, and included roughly 1/3 of the whole game’s dialogue, so it’s not as crazy as it sounds at first, even though you can speed through Midgar in like two hours if you rush.

Rebirth: Open world up to the “big event” that ended disc 1.

Revelation: Everything after the “big event”, so discs 2 and 3. (Possibly also adapting some aspects of Advent Children and/or Dirge of Cerberus, but we’ll just have to wait and see.)

There are a couple things that were moved around. For example, we didn’t go to Rocket Town in Rebirth, while that was much earlier in the original. Cid appeared in Rebirth but was not a playable party member, so they’ve reorganized it a bit to focus on Cid’s whole story in Revelation.

  • I enjoyed this one, as I’ve enjoyed all the Murderbot stories.

I did feel a bit let down by the dangling thread of the other rogue SecUnit. It showed up, ran off, and then we never saw it again. I guess it was just setting the stage for future stories; the hack is uncontained and any SecUnit could realistically have it in the future.

  • There is also testing, but that is just to place thing in before promoting them to stable so has the same release cadence as stable.

Small point of clarification: Debian Testing is more fluid than Stable. While Stable will not receive any feature updates in its 2-year lifespan (only bug fixes and security patches), Testing does receive feature updates, up to the point where it is “frozen” for the final stages before release as the new Stable. Usually that happens a few months before release.

This is why Debian 13 “Trixie” has some packages that were released toward the end of Debian 12’s lifecycle.

For example, Debian 13 Trixie was released in August 2025, and contains KDE Plasma 6.3, which was released in February 2025. It does not include Plasma 6.4, which was released in June 2025, because that was after the freeze.

So in practice, you can expect Debian stable to have feature releases that are ~0.5-2.5 years behind the latest, and Testing to be 0-6 months behind.
