Trudeau was not an “orange lib”. He broke multiple strikes and never saw a P3 he didn’t like. Trudeau was Liberal to the bone. Carney is a Harper conservative (or perhaps a British conservative would be more apt) who really wanted to be PM and saw that in the current political climate his best chance to do that was via the Liberal party.
