I’ve never seen that, could be true for some brands but it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Most brands on a fresh roll would have a tab on the end of the tape anyway, after one use any marking on the inside of the roll wouldn’t line up with the new end.

Huh? I literally just sent you two links about roadside walkways. Australia’s one is under the header “Footpaths in road reservations”, while technically it doesn’t always need to contain a road, it does include the road and area around it. Here’s a definition from a random Aus council I found with a quick search:

A road reserve is the public land outside your property boundary and generally includes the nature strip or verge, roadside drains or kerbing, footpath and roadway.

The UK one literally gives that advice beside a diagram of a footway beside a road while clearly marking the 2m recommendation on the diagram.

Personally I’m the same size wherever I’m walking, but I’d still prefer the extra space when I’m around cars rather than on a safe path, I’m not even sure what point you were trying to make?

36" is the absolute bare minimum required walkway space in the US by ADA to technically be wheelchair compliant in that a single wheelchair user might be able to use it, roughly half the minimum 1.8m clear width recommended by Australia’s Department of Transport, and less than half the 2m minimum unobstructed walkway space recommended for pedestrians in low-traffic areas by the UK’s department for transport. This is undeniably too narrow.

That road looks wide enough for about 4 cars, it’s not a “waste” to surrender some of that to make it slightly less hostile to pedestrians.

You could use two mirrors like a mini periscope to look directly at her, since it’s a double reflection you’re double protected! Or maybe they cancel each other out. And what about prisms or lenses bending light, does that work as well as a reflection? Are people with glasses immune?

The abstract linked also quite clearly states that MISSE PEACE (ie the polymer one you see in the image) was part of a broader MISSE 2 experiment. If you bothered to read the paper you’d even have seen an image of it in context with other materials.

MISSE 2 alone had 456 samples, if you count other MISSE experiments you hit thousands.

This comment is very hard to parse. Is your complaint that Linux is worse because Windows screwed up your partitioning? If you’re talking about partitioning you’re already talking as a technical user, I’m not sure how Windows screwing up your partitions is evidence Linux less usable for non-technical people?

I can’t say why people are using czar specifically but people have been called the “lord of X” or “Y king” practically forever without being literal kings or lords. You’re right, I’ve never had to deal with any of those while driving. Can you imagine construction workers closing a road? Crazy, just never happens.

This new regulation protects the victim since they’d no longer have to get that information, they can get compensated directly from the owning company. The company can then presumably try to claim damages from the rider, I’m betting there’ll be a clause you agree to when renting which says you’ll have to pay up, but the victim doesn’t have to worry about any of that.

From the article it seems like they’re more focused on damage caused by leaving the scooters in dangerous places anyway, in those cases it’s much harder to identify who caused it. Making sure victims don’t have to wait around for that investigation seems reasonable, that could take a while if the owners aren’t liable since they won’t really care. It might even encourage the company to make sure their scooters are always stowed safely. Probably not, but it’s nice to be optimistic sometimes.

Personally I find any unsolicited grammar “advice” unnecessary and incredibly rude, doubly so when it’s not even right. It just breeds toxicity and devolves conversations into pedantry about pedantry.

If you’re living somewhere with hard water you’re probably already used to the kind of issues you’ll have, mineral deposits will build up over time and make it less efficient so you’ll need to clean it regularly. I can’t imagine vinegar would cause any damage but you should probably check the manual first, there could be maintenance instructions in there.
