3·14 hours agoI can look in the server logs, but when I woke up it was working, so no real idea.
Edit: looks like the ISP is doing some maintenance on the connection today. There was another brief outage just now.
I mean, aside from the fact that you can buy a small second-hand car for the asking price, why not 🤷
They exists for apartment complexes with individual owners, but it is not something the typical renter would have much experience with.

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•China develops plant to extract hydrogen, fresh water and uranium from the sea
10·2 days agoExtremely misleading headline. They added a well known way to recover some low grade waste heat and claim to save around 15% of the overall electricity use that way.
The point of Open-Source is to allow that. This is what differentiates Open-Source from Free Software and why people invented the term and founded the organisation behind it.
The Free Software side of things did improve on licensing with the AGPL.

Where do tractors mainly transport people (or cargo)?
A boat is clearly closer to your definition of a car than a tractor.
By that definition a tractor isn’t a car.
You’re calling me a clown when you don’t even know what a car is?? 🤡
You are making up arbitrary definitions to suit your silly argument. A boat is a form of personalized transport with an ICE engine, a steering wheel and seats, even a windshield etc. so it is clearly a “car” 🤡

Permacomputing@slrpnk.net•The Amazing Work By Valve's Timur Kristóf On Improving Old AMD GPUs On Linux - PhoronixEnglish
3·5 days agoI think this mostly benefits the somewhat later Kaveri etc. APUs that have a southern islands iGPU. Quite a few thin clients and laptops used those and they are still capable machines today for most non-gaming tasks.
And boats are a variety of car if they have an ICE, right? 🤡
You are also arguing in bad faith, because cars are not the same as internal combustion engines. You might be able to argue correctly that tractors replaced farm animals for productive use, but tractors are not cars.

DIY@slrpnk.net•Rainwater collection and reuse - IBC totes and irrigation pumps
4·5 days agoNo it is rigid. Just search for “IBC container” and you will see how it looks under that cover. Those tanks are widely used to transport liquids.
The point is that horses got replaced by trains, trams and bicycles for most people long before cars became widely used.

11·5 days agoYeah, this was a nice surprise for the old thin client I use as an GUI access terminal for some servers. Not exactly a gaming machine, but some desktop tasks also benefit.

Europe@feddit.org•Microsoft Teams alternative is “absolute s**t,” European Commission officials complainEnglish
1·6 days agoHaving used both (and I agree that Element is pretty shit), I think the advantage of teams mostly boils down to the integration with Office365, which is hard to replicate for Element even if it wasn’t shit otherwise.

Europe@feddit.org•Microsoft Teams alternative is “absolute s**t,” European Commission officials complainEnglish
2·6 days agoI think much of the critique is never the less justified, but out of interest, how much do you think it has to do with the integration on Teams with Office365, or put differently, if the EC would stop using Office365, would the percieved advantage of Teams disappear?

I have not noticed a change with the search.
And no, we are still using Lemmy. We are currently waiting for the Lemmy 1.0 release and will re-evaluate the plans for moving to Piefed after upgrading to that, but at least some of the technical issue we have had with Lemmy have been solved and/or will be solved in v1.0.
