1·4 days agoBecause election day is a postmark deadline in California, a fairly large fraction of votes are still uncounted, and the distribution of yet-to-be-counted votes likely skews well to the left of those already counted. It’s also a primary election, with the top two vote getters going on the ballot in November.
About 2/3 of voters in California are going to end up choosing somebody who is not MAGA in the fall.

1·4 days agoThe suppression effort didn’t stop. You can’t organize something like what you hint at without having an infiltrator by the time you’ve got a half-dozen people involved.

We don’t actually know if Steyer will make it through the primary yet.

Eg: the fact that human decisionmaking limited acid rain and ozone depletion is seen as a reason to not need to address any other environmental issues

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•'At what point does it make sense to ditch a gas car for an electric vehicle?'
97·6 days agoFar far less than if you keep on driving a gas car. It’s better to not drive at all, but we’re not going to get everybody out of cars.
Proper scrapping does mean destroying the old car and not merely selling it

207·6 days agoIt actually makes sense to replace a gas car that is still running in a lot of cases

4·6 days agoYeah. They don’t have authority to end the contract. Local officials can do things to interfere with utility hookups.
But sending in the local police to attack protesters and the press is just an asshole move

109·6 days agoThe point is that in many places, it makes financial sense sense to scrap a still-running gas car.
