A home for board games, tabletop games, wargames, and role-playing games!

Thanks for joining our instance! Tabletop.place is a close-knit community primarily made up of enthusiasts of tabletop games and board games. Additionally, however, there are a ton of related topics and interests we hope to include here as well! For general non-tabletop communities, we highly recommend beehaw.org.

It is important to remember that our rules apply to our shared community space, to our community’s content, but not to our individual users who are free to engage in discussions outside of this instance freely, even if their account is hosted here.

If a federated community contains content you disagree with when using the *ALL *filter, you can block the community entirely to prevent it from populating your feed.

Rules

Be Kind : Treat others as you would treat them at your local hobby shop! If you wouldn’t do it there, don’t do it here. We all deserve to be treated with respect, and there’s plenty of sites out there if you want to be toxic!
No NSFW : Tabletop.place is a home for games, and sometimes games can contain graphic content or profane language, and that’s okay! Nobody could discuss Warhammer if that were the case. That said, we hope to foster a positive community, and that means keeping discussions and topics civil and related to our core interests. The NSFW tag exists for cases where NSFW content is topical to our community, such as a miniature that portrays nudity.
No Politics : We all believe strongly in our beliefs, whatever they may be, but there are plenty of places to discuss these topics outside of Tabletop.place. We hope people of various beliefs, nationalities, and identities can come together over our shared interests, and as such, topics like these (even jokes!) should probably be avoided. There’s a time and place.
No Piracy : We all know how expensive many of these hobbies can be, but now more than ever, hobbyists, game developers, and artists, need your support. We all know it’s easy to copy-paste rules, redistribute PDFs, and share STLs, but if nobody supports the creators, there will be no-one left to, well, create!
No Advertisement : We hope Tabletop.place can be a community, not just a place to pump out and consume “content.” If you want to share your creations, discuss those creations, and so on, feel free! Don’t, however, use this site to advertise your Instagram or Youtube channel. We all want to be able to do what we love for a living, but we want to foster a community, not a marketplace.
No AI “Stuff” : Look, we get it, the tech is cool, but in a community where many games are solo projects, or created by small teams of passionate creators, these tools have already made it more difficult for those creators to get the support they need to continue creating. Support artists, and support creativity; leave AI for the mundane stuff.
Request New Communities via the Official Community : If there is a topic or community you believe should be created here, make a post in our The Tabletop Place Official Community community so we can determine whether the community fits our guidelines and won’t stratify the existing communities.

We take defederation very seriously, and we do believe that for federation to work, instances must be open to sharing users and communities, regardless of the rules of individual instances. For this reason, we do not intend to block federation of communities from instances that may seem at odds with our core rules if users choose to subscribe to them, unless the instances are obscene beyond reason.
