For real, to read an original memory stick (not Duo, but the original “gum stick” cards), I use a Sony Cyber-Shot P50 camera connected to my PC via USB because I can’t be bothered to find a proper adapter for these, and the read speeds are ATROCIOUS.
Like a few megabytes could take several minutes (up to 20 or 30) just to copy it to somewhere safe.
i remember buying this for 200 bucks a piece, now i struggle to find a device to read the contents.
