Hello community,

I am using a Sony alpha 7c mark II for my work as an assessor and I am very happy with it.

One thing is on my mind though: When in A-Mode, the camera quite often chooses to lower the shutter speed above 1/80 to get enough light. I would prefer if the camera would stay below 1/80 and turn up the ISO instead, so that the picture doesn’t get all shaky when handheld.

Does anyone know, if there is an option to set a lower limit to the shutter speed, when in A-Mode? And where can I find it?

Edit: Solution:

In my menu (german): Belichtung/Farbe - [1]Belichtung - ISO AUTO Min. VS

Maybe in english: Exposure/Color - [1]Exposure - ISO AUTO Min. ET

I thought the same way, so I put ISO into auto-mode with a range from 100-6400. But I noticed that the camera still goes down to 1/30 shutter speed when shooting with 50 mm, with an ISO of 250 or so. Which would be ok’ish, if I would stand still, but I have to move a lot and would prefer if the shutter speed wouldn’t go below e.g. 1/200 to compansate for my movements. I don’t care about high ISO-numbers to compensate for a faster shutter speed.

The problem with M-Mode is, that I also have to go from inside to outside quite often. The much stronger light outside would ruin the fotos, if I would forget to turn the shutter speed up. ISO in auto-mode wouldn’t help, as it can only go as low as 100.

So best thing would be A-Mode, with auto-ISO, and a minimum shutter speed of let’s say 1/200. And only if auto-ISO reaches the top-limit, the shutter speed would be used to compensate.

Look for minimum shutter speed on that same page. Your camera will respect that value until you hit the max ISO value.

        Thank you, I found it!

In my menu (german): Belichtung/Farbe - [1]Belichtung - ISO AUTO Min. VS

Maybe in english: Exposure/Color - [1]Exposure - ISO AUTO Min. ET

With the setting ISOASS-250 it now won’t go below 1/250 exposure time, as long as it can turn up the ISO higher. When it reaches the maximum ISO (I set it to 6400), only then it will adjust the exposure time.

ISOASS wasn’t exactly the keyword I was loocking for.

        Thanks for your help!
