From BrandNew : “Fast Company chats with Mark Liney and Jack Wimmer — who, combined, have worked for DesignStudio, How&How, Koto, Ragged Edge, and Re — about their new AI-powered naming practice, Monika, that delivers around 20 names in five days for a flat fee of $5,000. Monika uses OpenAI’s GPT-4 for their own custom models and the system filters generated names through the same global trademark database that attorneys use, generating around 1,000 options based on a survey completed by the user before the two founders hand-pick the best 20 to present.”

Obviously naming is an important part of the branding process, but it’s ultimately completely worthless if not accompanied by the actual brand assets, should you be a small company, this type of expenses is crazy, if you’re a big corporation, you can probably afford it, but what is the worth of 20 names ideas when you will have to hire a design studio to do the rest of the work.

From their FAQ you don’t even get a domain name check, a trademark check, no refund policy… Absolute scam just to ride on the AI hype train if you ask me.

LOL, WTF? Basically the entire point of generative “AI” is to not pay bespoke prices for services like this. How much of a fucking moron do you have to be to see that they’re bragging that they aren’t doing any actual work for you and think that’s a point in favor of paying them instead of just taking the same shortcut yourself?
