Have you had trouble finding anyone to #StreetPass for Happy Home Showcase in New Leaf?

If you have, the team at @pretendo have just made it easier! With the latest version of Nimbus (which allows you to connect to the network), you’re now able to StreetPass people online from anywhere in the world!

However, it’s not that simple. Due to the buggy implementation of StreetPass for some games, you’ll only be able to StreetPass people you’ve friended on your console (well that’s 0 for me). It makes use of a feature called StreetPass Relay which was used at Nintendo Zones which allowed you to upload your data and download others.

I think I’ll just stick to real StreetPasses for now though (I got 3 in the last year). Anyone reading from the South West or West Midlands?

    I remember making one of the first projects for this. It was effectively a small script that would run on a raspberry pi and make an SSID that matched one of the SSIDs of a participating vendor (mcdonalds was a big one) and spoof its mac address, and rotate through these once every so often depending on how many you had in your list.

    I’m happy to see pretendo picking this up and functioning as the backbone since nintendo shut down their streetpass servers.
