    Thwaites, which already contributes 4% to global sea level rise, holds enough ice to raise sea levels by more than 2 feet. But because it also acts as a natural dam to the surrounding ice in West Antarctica, scientists have estimated its complete collapse could ultimately lead to around 10 feet of sea level rise.

    Well that sucks.

      I asked ChatGPT and it estimates that a 10 feet rise would make us loose about 3.4% of the global landmass or about 5 million square kilometers.

        Not to mention sea level rise’s unpredictable effect on inland rivers. River avulsion can be both directly catastrophic and cause long-term drought and other problems in cities and communities that rely on their rivers being… where they are. Shit’s gonna fuck everyone up.
