In his bid to become North Carolina’s first Black governor, Republican Mark Robinson assails government safety net spending as a “plantation of welfare and victimhood” that's mired Black people in “dependency” and poverty.
The organization, funded entirely by taxpayers, has collected roughly $7 million in government funding since 2017, while paying out at least $830,000 in salaries to Hill, Robinson and other members of their family, tax filings and state documents show.
That’s $120k/year if it was to a single person, but it’s to several. Feels like a non-story, he’s clearly not getting rich off of this.
Just to be clear, he’s fighting against something he, himself, took advantage of to put himself in a better financial situation, which he’d prefer that no one else take advantage of to put themselves in a better financial situation. Exact same thing happened with his abortion. He wasn’t in a position to raise a child, so he terminated the pregnancy. Now he doesn’t want anyone else to have that same option.
At this point he doesn’t need any more “handouts”, because he’s taken in $350,000 since 2021, so the gravy train is already rolling.

A rip off is a rip off even if it’s not a ton of cash. 830k seems like a lot to me.
