Revealed: anti-government People’s Rights Network, founded by Ammon Bundy, appearing to follow ‘entryism’ strategy
At least 66 members of an anti-government group founded by far-right militia figure Ammon Bundy have attempted to win local positions of influence in the Republican party in Oregon, the Guardian can reveal.
The candidates stood for Republican precinct committee person (PCP) slots in three central Oregon counties in this week’s elections, with some facing no opponent and thus winning their positions by default. The role of PCPs includes electing the executive of the county-level GOP apparatus.
The move is part of what appears to be a coordinated attempt to capture the local Republican party infrastructure, following a far-right strategy of “entryism” into more mainstream political bodies.
Ffs…better tell my sister to get the fuck outta Oregon…
Out of rural Oregon.
Correct, she(and her wife) are in rural Oregon.
Sorry to hear it. There’s some very beautiful country out there, but the culture is not great (I’m in Washington now but used to live in Oregon).
Most of Western Washington is pretty great. She could move up here.
I mean, we’re Canadian, if things get really bad her and her wife could definitely just jump ship and head north north.
Washington is the way.
While I agree, and am in Washington now in part because of stuff like this, we need to do better about keeping these people subdued or it won’t be much better here. The college towns bordering Idaho/Washington are in the middle of a very successful christo-fascist takeover with plans to foothold into Washington. Spokane has been toying with nationalism and white supremacy for ages. There are a lot of very red rural farmland and small towns who are angry at Seattle for having such an influence on them.
I still feel safer here and most areas of Washington than I have living in other places. We need to work hard to keep it that way because fascism doesn’t stop at state lines
There is only one way to stop them.
You have never been to northeast Washington, have you? Soooo many Christian nationalists and people who claim to be “constitutionalists.”
But there are still lots of great areas even east of the mountains.
I lived in Spokane for 3 years.
