    Even in the article, they refer dismissively to the video about how obviously stilted and robotic everything is, but that is of course writing with the foreknowledge that the video is a deepfake.

    If you were watching it on your phone or in some lower resolution as an official video from your local official and weren’t warned or tipped off beforehand, or if your perspective was compromised somehow, it would be very easy to make the mistake that it was a genuine message from your actual local official.

    His strategy is sound, dispel the mystery of deep fakes and make it known that they are an available and simple technology that can be dealt with and mitigated the same way other misinformation is.

    Get rid of the shine and take it apart.
