If I remember correctly, he wouldn’t be able to pardon himself because these are state crimes. Only the NY Governor would be able to issue a pardon

This was a state felony, so he would have to become governor of New York to pardon these convictions

And yet he will, and get away with it.

I’m not so sure. It’s MUCH harder to avoid punishment after you are convicted. Michael Cohen got 3 years for the exact same crime, plus he pled guilty and agreed to testify for a shorter sentence. Obviously Trump will appeal, but it’s entirely reasonable for the judge (who Trump has taken every opportunity to insult) to rule he must start serving his sentence while the appeal happens.

A lot of people are already celebrating Trump going to jail and I just want to temper that excitement. Yes, it’s true he MAY go to jail, but the likelihood of that actually happening is incredibly remote.

We’ll see on July 11th but we should all just expect some kind of large fine and reprimand, house arrest at worst. No judge in the world wants the attention of being the one who sends a massively popular ex-president who is geriatric and senile and surrounded by secret service to prison where he would likely die.

The whole nation not just now, but for the next century would fixate on that judge and decision.

And do everything he can to burn democracy to the fucking ground while making himself and his rotten children rich.
