Writing long-lived characters it’s always tempting to make them aloof, cool and distant, unfeeling, or unknowable. It’s great to see it portrayed in a more relatable way. Just because we humans can outlive several dogs in one lifetime, there is room in our hearts for all of them. Why would elves be any different?
