Starbucks has resumed bargaining with union leaders amid a fresh wave of organized stores after the world’s largest coffee chain agreed to open talks over labor agreements. After a long, embittered campaign, the Seattle-based coffee giant jointly announced a new framework with Workers United in February to reach contracts with unionized stores. Bargaining got under way on Wednesday, and is due to continue on Thursday.
Did someone at *$ figure out they can solve a labor shortage or something by having a labor union? Or are they working at some other anti-worker scheme in the background?
Maybe the dumb fucks finally understood that employees that care enough about their job enough to go through the hassle of forming a union are employees that are not “silently quiting”. Probably not, but it would be a win-win situation for everyone if they understood that no one is on the side of long term success of a company more than its employees.
They probably finally realized that union busting efforts result in them being forced to immediately recognize and negotiate with the union, provided the votes exist to create it. NLRB is on roids now.
