The detentions come as the Houthis, who seized Yemen’s capital nearly a decade ago and have been fighting a Saudi-led coalition since shortly after, have been targeting shipping throughout the Red Sea corridor over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.
Please, anyone who doesn’t understand the issue there check and see where Gaza is in relation to the Red Sea and Yemen. Also feel free to look up how many of the ships they attacked were actually headed to Israel.
Regional officials, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to brief journalists, confirmed the U.N. detentions. Those held include staff from the United Nations human rights agency, its development program, the World Food Program and one working for the office of its special envoy, the officials said. The wife of one of those held is also detained.

You can’t seriously still be in denial about the ships. Houthi’s are very clearly targeting ships of countries supporting israel’s Genocide in Gaza. Almost every marker checks out. Almost every time it doesn’t check out the ships did some funny stuff with their destinations or ownership. Not only israel is on the target list anymore but any country that supports israel in their Genocide.
Now many love denying that America and Europe are heavily complicit in the Genocide of Palestinians but some people draw a connection between giving weapons to commit Genocide and being complicit in it.
If you want to test the Houthi’s simply tell israel to stop their Genocide. And if israel stops and they continue then you can talk about how right you are. It certainly does not appear that they will continue when a ceasefire in Gaza is reached.
