I disagree. A created character can’t exist in Star Wars beyond the game they are created in. This character has the possibility of appearing in cameos across mediums.

This is kind of what’s killing Star Wars right now though. We don’t need 50 different character threads placed throughout six different shows that run parallel/in sequence with each other.

It’s also what’s killing the MCU.

I disagree. Star Wars seems to be doing fine outside of the mainline sequel trilogy. In fact, I’d say it’s the pantheon of secondary and tertiary characters and their stories that redeemed the prequels.

Marvel is fun, but admittedly a bit cramped since everything is kind of bound to earth within a relatively limited span of modern times. Star Wars not so much. Granted, a lot circles around the Skywalker era, but a lot of stories are told that have nothing to do with the skywalkers or anything else you see in the movies. Sometimes they add significance to things we always took for granted, like Rogue One and the acquisition of the Death Star plans.

Am I right to assume you were not a fan of The Mandalorian?

There’s a gazillion possible stories and characters, who the fuck cares about the odd potential cameo that may or may not even happen? People want to immerse themselves into the world more by playing their own characters instead of some potentially unlikable goon. Like, there’s been so many SW games with pre made characters. How many of them even showed up ever again somewhere else, and at what significance? Why trade this brief possibility for several hours of actual immersion and fun?

Oops. I’m sorry. You’re right. Game should totally have allowed people to make their own characters. It was wrong of me to enjoy things you don’t.

It would be interesting to do it the Kotor way. In that game you could customise your character but there was also a canon version of the character which followed the light side ending and had specific clothing.

I thought i remembered that the writers considered revan to be female canonically too. In Kotor 2, in an early scene, atton refers to revan as “she” or “her” so potentially they intended that to be the case.

But in individual games it made no difference because you could customise.

Like when i read Harry Potter, i took the descriptions of the characters and they looked a certain way in my head, until the films came out and solidified how they all look to me. I think everyone did this. It didnt matter to me that they looked different in the films to how i imagined. It was just the “official” versions of them.

I see you only have reactionary kneejerk comments to offer. Have a nice day.
