South Korea spotted another 350 North Korean balloons “presumed” to be carrying waste on Monday, reigniting a tit-for-tat exchange as tensions on the Korean Peninsula continue to heighten.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said a suspected balloon was seen flying in northern Gyeonggi Province, which borders Seoul, around 9 p.m. local time (8 p.m. ET).
About 100 of the balloons fell inside South Korean regions, most of which were found in north of Gyeonggi Province and capital Seoul with “no hazardous substances” found so far, it said.
Seoul’s Metropolitan government later sent out a push notification alerting the city that a North Korean balloon had entered the sky over Seoul, adding that citizens should refrain from touching downed balloons and report any sightings to authorities.

They’re using it as a euphemism for poop. For some reason.
It’s not just poop, it’s other assorted garbage too which I think explains the term
Seems to me they could glean some info regarding the prevalence of parasites and other enteric pathogens from said poop. Somewhat recently there was someone who escaped across the border that was infested with worms.
That’s a great idea. Analyze the feces or garbage and then publish public reports about the deficiencies of NK life. That’d embarrass Kim enough they’d probably stop.

It makes me feel so bad for the Koreans living under that regime. On top of barely having anything to eat, there are parasitic worms interfering with absorbing the food they do ingest.
I don’t know that they’re eating well, but the famines haven’t been a thing since the 90’s.
The parasites are what happens when you spend all your trade income on guns instead of medicine.
NK is filling them with garbage.
