Hey! Newbie to the touring world here. I have a Kona Rove DL 2021 frame, and looking at getting a front rack set up organised. After some research, the Tubus Duo and Tubus Tara look like excellent, light reliable choices which run nice and low on the bike.

My understanding is that the Duo requires “lowrider eyelets on the inside and outside”, whilst the Tubus does not. However, I must admit my understanding of eyelet terminology is not up-to-scratch, and as such I’m not actually sure whether my bike would support it. I also haven’t been able to find any good learning resource for understanding this specific case of eyelet requirements in my usual sources online.

If I had to trust my limited knowledge, I would say no, and that I would need an additional eyelet running parallel to the one I have at the moment. But I’m hoping to get conclusive advice from others!

Cheers!

I don’t think this will work, your fork does not seem to have the lowrider eyelet on the inside.

Pretty sure the duo needs this so it can’t be twisted into your wheel / avoid leverage on the fork when you bump against something.

I have a tara to give away for real cheap if you’re in eu and are interested.

Hey! Thanks very much for the help. Now I see exactly the issue; I would need braze-ons that are drilled through to both sides of the fork. The terminology I was finding elsewhere online kept tripping me up, but the explicitness of your big red circle was very clear, so thanks again. Regarding your enticing Tara offer: I’m in Helsinki, Finland. In my experience there aren’t the greatest shipping rates out to here, but I’m at least interested to hear what you would be looking for for it :)

I had a look at shipping rates. I think shipping should be 16,49 €, so i could make the lemmy special offer of 25 € total. Plus you get a free ultralight camp light to go with it :)

I will only be home in about ten days. The tara is used but in good condition. I bought it used but have never used it myself. I did do a test mount though, all mounting material is there. I can pm you photos when i’m back home if you’re interested.

That’s very generous of you! I’ll take you up on that offer. I’m especially grateful as it’s not easy to find Tubus products over here. I would’ve likely had to have it shipped from elsewhere in the EU anyway. And no worries about timing, feel free to reach out when you’re back home and we can move things forward then :). The lights look great too; I’ll absolutely get a pic of them on display in my lanshan!

Lanshan looks like a cool tent!
