A League of Legends fighter named “Pool Party” went though drastic changes in direction, then was canceled?

This has incompetent management written ALL over it. Such potential wasted.

It COULD have been a tie-in to Arcane. That would have been great. Who doesn’t want to beat up Silco as Vi?

You might still but in 2XKO instead.

The director of Riot Games needs to learn a thing or two about branding. “2XKO” rolls right off the tongue lol

Oh, the name is just about universally disliked. That said, I worked as a contractor on a fighting game in the past few years, and I was in the discussion when the game was named. It’s hard. I can guess what the criteria was for 2XKO when they named it, and I’ll bet it had something to do with conveying the rules and the fact that it’s two-player teams.

I’ve been hearing the dislike for the name but I personally like it for a fighting game. Sorta reminiscent of Japanese fighting games that can have crazy names for sequals.

It also has a couple of good shortenings for players. They could call it xko or 2ko. Much like how people just call league of legends, league or lol. Granted I don’t actually play fighting games but that’s just my opinion.

Usually, if you’re looking at a list of games on a schedule for a fighting game major, they’re shortened down to 4 characters or fewer, so that was probably also under consideration when naming it.
