I had a social studies teacher in the sixth grade who made the unit on Latin America (plus Suriname and Guyana) memorable enough to stick with me all these years later. That probably was the spark that got me interested in geography as a whole. That said, Africa still trips me up more than it should, like when I forgot completely about South Sudan existing on a recent Travle.

Yeah I struggle with Africa. I keep forgetting there are two Congos and I forget many of the names.
