The next installments of the Avengers franchise continue to remain in flux as Marvel Studios’ Avengers 5 has once again lost a writer. Was there ever a lighting? I recently rewatched many of the early MCU movies and to be honest they were mostly OK but not much better.
I still love most of the original infinity saga save Thor 2 and Iron Man 2 and do a watch through every year. So for me it absolutely did.
I think the main problem is that back then Marvel movies were considered “good popcorn cinema”. Then the whole Oscars/Scorsese thing happened and Feige etc started to push on how Marvel would produce high-class movies. Then people started to judge their movies not on a “popcorn blockbuster scale”, but on a “sophisticated movie scale”.
